Acrobat’s New AI Feature Lets You ‘Chat’ with Documents

Share:

Acrobat PDF management software by Adobe is being enhanced with a brand-new AI feature, intended to revolutionize how users access and consume digital documents. In an official statement from the company, this tool was called the “AI Assistant in Acrobat.” It uses generative technology to summarize lengthy files, answer inquiries, and suggest additional material based on context-specific content. This results in users being able to enjoy effortless interactions with such documents for simpler access of relevant information. The beta version is available for purchase today among paid Acrobat subscribers.

Features and Capabilities

The chatbot aims to simplify time-consuming tasks when handling extensive text documents. This includes helping students quickly find research information and condensing extensive reports into highlights for emails, meetings, or presentations. The AI Assistant in Acrobat supports all document formats, including Word and PowerPoint, while following Adobe’s data security policies. These policies disallow customer document storage or using such data to train the assistant.

Upon activation, the AI Assistant has the capability to evaluate a document’s substance and suggest inquiries for users to investigate. It can also answer questions about the content and produce references for verifying source material used by the AI Assistant. Additionally, it creates links that lead directly to information within lengthy documents. Furthermore, Acrobat subscribers can request the chatbot feature to consolidate and format data into consumable text for emails or presentations.

Pricing

Customers who subscribe to Acrobat Standard ($12.99 per month), Pro ($19.99 per month), and Teams plans can now experience the new AI Assistant on both desktop and web platforms without any extra charge during its beta phase. According to Adobe Document Cloud’s Senior Vice President Abhigyan Modi, when AI Assistant is officially released from beta mode, Reader and Acrobat users will need to purchase a separate add-on subscription plan. This will be required to fully access all its capabilities.

The duration of the AI Assistant beta program by Adobe remains unknown. Nonetheless, the company has projected a plan for forthcoming functionalities, which includes incorporating its Firefly generative AI model. This will facilitate the extraction of information from various sources and document types concurrently, as well as offer services such as initial draft generation and copy editing.
