Facebook is trying to make ‘poking’ cool again

Facebook is attempting to revive the once-popular “pokes,” a playful form of interaction in its early days. The social media company recently unveiled updates to this feature, hoping it will reignite fond memories and reconnect people through this nostalgic method.

The enhancements aim to increase the ease of poking. There will be better recommendations on individuals to poke and simpler search capabilities for users. Additionally, it is possible to directly send a poke from the search result page of someone.

The findings appear encouraging as Facebook has reported a remarkable 13-fold hike in poking deeds since the modifications came into effect. Curiously, more than half of these pokes originate from juvenile users (aged between 18 to 29), who were non-existent on the platform during its initial poke fad.

Initially, Facebook left the significance of a poke to be deciphered (maybe it was for flirting?), but now it’s being portrayed as an informal way to greet friends. So, when browsing through your newsfeed next time on Facebook, instead of hitting like button give a poke and see how you can amaze yourself (as well as your pals)!
