Netflix’s new adaptation of East of Eden is scheduled to arrive on 1 October, bringing John Steinbeck’s novel to the screen as a seven-episode limited series.
Florence Pugh leads the cast as Cathy Ames. Zoe Kazan wrote and executive produced the adaptation, which explores a family story spanning generations in California’s Salinas Valley.
Who is in the cast?
Alongside Pugh, Netflix lists Christopher Abbott, Mike Faist and Ciarán Hinds among the cast. The story follows relationships, conflict and what one generation passes on to the next.
Kazan also has a family connection to the material: her grandfather, Elia Kazan, directed the 1955 film adaptation. Netflix presents this series as a new interpretation of the novel.
Where to watch
Netflix lists 1 October as the release date. Australian viewers should check the title’s Netflix page for availability in their account and region; a calendar release date does not establish that a programme is already available at every hour of that day.
This is a release preview. NextNews has not reviewed the series, so it does not offer a verdict on the performances or adaptation.
