Samsung Gallery–OneDrive Sync Has Changed: How to Keep Photos Backed Up

Share:

Samsung Gallery no longer syncs directly with OneDrive from 30 September 2026, according to Microsoft. Samsung users who relied on that connection should check their backup settings before assuming new photos are being uploaded.

Your cloud photos remain accessible

Microsoft says photos stored in OneDrive will disappear from the Samsung Gallery view after the change, but remain accessible through OneDrive’s app and website. A missing Gallery view does not, by itself, mean the cloud copy has been deleted.

Check these backup settings

  1. Open OneDrive and check that you are using the account containing your existing photos.
  2. Confirm that OneDrive has permission to access all your photos and videos.
  3. Turn on camera backup in OneDrive.
  4. Check that a newly taken photo appears in OneDrive before relying on the new arrangement.

Microsoft says new photos and videos will upload only when photo permissions and camera backup are enabled. New users can no longer link the Samsung Gallery and OneDrive apps after the cut-off.

Keep important originals until you have verified their backups. Use Microsoft’s current instructions if the settings on your device look different.
