Darwin hip-hop artist Yung Milla, also known as Levi Nichaloff, has won The Voice Australia 2026 after securing the audience vote.
The Northern Territory performer received a recording and development package along with a $100,000 cash prize. His campaign drew attention to his music, community work and commitment to representing Aboriginal culture on a national stage.
A win with a community focus
Yung Milla told ABC Radio Darwin that he intends to release new EPs and use part of the prize to establish a local studio that can help young people find their voice through music.
He has previously worked with young people in Darwin, including as a support worker at Aunties Place. That experience has shaped his goal of creating a practical pathway for emerging artists who may not otherwise have access to recording facilities or mentors.
Culture on the national stage
During the competition, Yung Milla incorporated the yidaki into a performance of “Down Under”, linking contemporary hip-hop with the culture and community that have shaped his work.
The win gives the Darwin artist a national platform while directing attention back to the Top End’s creative community. His next steps are expected to include new music and early planning for the proposed youth studio.
