Meta has introduced a new feature on WhatsApp for organizing events and managing Announcement Groups more effectively.
Events in Communities
Users can now plan events directly on WhatsApp, whether it’s a virtual meeting or a birthday dinner. Anyone can create an event, and others can RSVP, making it easier for the entire group to know who’s attending.
- Event details are accessible on the group’s information page, and attendees receive automatic notifications as the event approaches.
Replies in Announcement Groups
WhatsApp is introducing replies in Announcement Groups, allowing members to respond to important updates from admins.
- Replies are grouped together and minimized for better context, and notifications are muted for everyone to ensure a seamless experience.
Meta introduced Communities in November 2022, enabling neighborhoods, school associations, and hobbyists to connect by combining up to 50 groups, alongside other group features including Reactions, Admin delete, up to 2GB file sharing, and one-tap voice calling for up to 32 people.
Availability
Events will first be available in groups belonging to a Community, gradually expanding to all groups in the coming months.
Meta says they plan to continue introducing new features to Communities and groups, aiming to provide users with more tools for organizing their lives on WhatsApp.
