Apple is finally adding an iOS home screen feature

Share:

Apple is catching up to Android by adding a feature to iOS 18 that Android had 15 years ago: now, users can freely rearrange app icons on the home screen, creating blank columns and spaces between apps, just like on Android. Unlike before, apps won’t automatically fill in these gaps.

Android has allowed this customization since its beginning. The news, reported by MacRumors and Bloomberg, hints at a “more customizable” iOS home screen in the upcoming update.

iOS 18 is expected to be a significant upgrade, possibly the most significant in Apple’s history, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The update might also include Google’s Gemini AI and RCS texting, improving messaging features across platforms.

Apple is likely to announce iOS 18 at WWDC in June.
