The Singapore Cybersports and Online Gaming Association (SCOGA) has exciting news: Campus Legends, their annual local esports showdown, is returning for its 6th edition this year. In this event, student teams will duke it out in popular games like VALORANT and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. What’s more, SCOGA has partnered with the National Council Against Drug Abuse to provide support for the event, emphasizing their commitment to promoting a drug-free lifestyle among young people.
Campus Legends has gained fame for its focus on training and creating professional opportunities for students interested in gaming. Since its launch in 2019, it’s become a cornerstone event in Singapore’s esports scene, serving as a launchpad for budding talent in various roles like players, casters, and event organizers.
The tournament will unfold in multiple stages, kicking off with open school qualifiers in early June, followed by group stages and playoffs throughout June and July. The climax will be the grand finals in August, where the top teams will battle for supremacy.
In a significant move, the 2024 Campus Legends will receive support from Singapore’s National Council Against Drug Abuse, aligning with the theme ‘Towards a drug-free Singapore.’ This collaboration aims to use the tournament’s broad reach to educate young people about the importance of living a drug-free life. Concurrently, a conference tailored for parents will run alongside the event finals, focusing on enhancing parental understanding of gaming and esports while addressing concerns related to drug abuse.
With backing from renowned international and national brands such as AOC, Acer Predator, MyRepublic, and SCAPE, Campus Legends continues to rise as a premier esports event. Dennis Ooi, President of SCOGA, expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the gaming community and partners, highlighting Campus Legends’ broader objectives beyond gaming. He emphasized the event’s role in empowering youths by imparting essential skills such as communication, problem-solving, and resilience through teamwork and camaraderie.
